Please forgive the slight overload of photos here, I’m just so thrilled with this shoot! These adorable, wonderful folks are my extended family, and this in-home family session was my Christmas present to them. I joined them for a classic Mennonite lunch of farmer sausage (insert usual joke about pacifists who eat farmers) and cottage cheese perogies, then we made a gingerbread house, cuddled the cat and headed out into the mountain air.

This is also my first time pushing film (shooting it at an iso higher than the film is actually rated, and adding a stop of exposure in development) and I must say I am smitten with the effect. Clean, bright colours, beautiful contrast, lots of detail—can’t get enough.

My partner’s birthday was a few weeks ago, and to celebrate we had a wee backyard barbecue with friends and neighbours. I brought out my Yashica T2 loaded with Portra 800 to catch a few sweet summer moments.

My family has a spot on Green Lake, outside 70 Mile House, and I got to spend the weekend there recently hanging out with my aunts and uncles and cousins and even grandparents! The lake is so gorgeous, crystal clear forever and the perfect temperature. And the family were all good sports when I kept whipping out my Yashica T2, loaded up with Ektar 100.
