Writer, journalist and all around delight (also my bff, nbd) Erika Thorkelson. We made these digital photos indoors in early spring, and I think they reflect the moodiness of the rain outside along with the hope of imminent sunshine.

Mallory’s Headshots
Writer Mallory Tater just got home from touring her first collection of poetry This Will be Good and she’s already prepping for the release of her first novel next year!
We both live in lovely Mount Pleasant, so we met up on Manitoba Street to take advantage of colourful buildings and bright new murals. We shot a combo of film and digital, giving her lots of flexibility.
Kaleb Morrison
My wonderful partner, stoneworker and social worker, looking serious with a hint of mischief.
Hannah and Genta’s Wedding
My sweet friends Hannah and Genta got married in July, and I was lucky enough to get a few snaps on Kodak Tri-X of their ceremony. I shot them on my Canon 35AF, a point-and-shoot made in the 80s, and a noisy beast of a camera. Luckily I managed to time my shots so the sound was (mostly) drowned out by cheers of love and celebration.
Sierra’s Headshots
I had the pleasure of making new headshots for award writer and journalist Sierra Sky Gemma this spring. We wanted something bright and Vancouvery, so Granville Island seems liked a natural choice. Artsy coloured walls! Fruit market! Ocean! So many plants! So much fun.
