I’m obviously pretty behind in getting this session with Flora and her family at the beach posted, but I love these photos and I’m very much looking forward to beach photo season, so I’m taking a better-late-than-never approach here.
Flora is expecting her third baby (she’s due any minute now!) and wanted to capture her family at this exciting stage, as four was preparing to become five.
She and her partner were a little nervous at first about how much energy the boys had, trying to corral them, but like I tell every parent, let them run! I loved chasing after them, throwing rocks into the water together and tossing a beach ball back and forth.
They were familiar with this place and so had things like they wanted to do and spots they wanted to hit. Following their lead lets me capture them just being themselves. It also lets me capture their parents gazing lovingly at them as they play, which is so lovely. I really try to create a space where families can just enjoy each other and not have to think too much about me and my camera.
Please also note the soft tone and texture of these film shots. They were taken on a very bright and sunny day mid-summer. No harsh glare, no blown highlight, no high-def pores. Just smooth bright skin and glorious colour. FILM FOREVER.
If you’d like to a session with your family at the beach, just give me a shout to book.
