I got the scans back from this session while I was waiting at the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal to head to the Island for the weekend, but I was so antsy to see them that I downloaded three rolls worth to my phone and incurred a not-insignificant data overage charge so that I didn’t have to wait three days to know how they turned out. I regret nothing. I love these photos!
Carlie is a writer and poet, and she wanted a series of photos that would serve both as headshots and branding photos for her writing practice. She grew up on the North Shore and writes frequently about Vancouver, so we wanted to capture the mountains and the port of her youth and complement those green and blue scenes with some clean city pictures.
To get it all in we split our time between the studio and some key outdoor locations. The weather also cooperated marvellously, so we got beautiful 10am window light up on the third floor of 309 West Cordova in addition to great direct light and bright, open shade for the outdoor part of the shoot (you know I pulled out the Ektar 100 to take full advantage of the direct light!)
